The Chicago Underground Film Festival is the longest-running underground film festival in the world – this year marks their 29th annual event. As advocates of artistic freedom and IP rights for independent filmmakers, they are on a mission to teach artists about web3 and the benefits of NFTs for film. This year they are announcing the formation of the CUFF DAO, for which Unstoppable Domains will be minting cuff.dao in front of a live audience on July 30th!
For filmmakers (especially independent and emerging artists), IP rights in the digital realm are tricky and protecting one’s work while also sharing it via social media to grow awareness is problematic to say the least. Production companies, big media, and big tech have had an unfair advantage over IP rights for decades, and CUFF hopes to help filmmakers see how they can take the power back through web3.
